Will You Help Me Pay My New Roof Insurance Deductible?

  • March 6, 2019

Sometimes, homeowners will ask us, "Will you help me pay my insurance deductible?"

Up until June 6, 2012, this was not an uncommon practice here in Colorado.  However, on that date, the Colorado State Legislature passed Senate Bill 38 which makes it illegal for a roofing contractor to pay, waive, or rebate a homeowner's insurance deductible. In fact, the law states that there must be a comment in bold font on the roofer's contract stating that he will not pay the deductible in whole or in part.

There are, unfortunately, a significant number of roofing contractors in the area that ignore this law by looking for "creative" ways to entice homeowners to hire them by offering "deductible assistance."

Take a walk with us for a few minutes and find out why you should never consider hiring a roofing contractor who is offering to pay all or part of your insurance deductible.

Homestead Roofing, Inc is a licensed and fully-insured roofing contractor in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  We serve homeowners in Colorado Springs, Fountain, Falcon, Peyton, Manitou Springs, Woodland Park, Elbert, and other surrounding communities in El Paso, Teller, Elbert, and Chaffee counties.
